ARTIST PORTRAIT // 2015
// Praise the Lord for the Greek crisis! Now all Greek artists are fantastic!”
The ARTIST PORTRAIT video was created in 2015 for the first European Dancehouse Network (EDN) Meeting in Athens, which took place at the Isadora & Raymond Duncan Dance Research Center (DDRC). It was featured in the “Placements / Responses / Positions” screening, where thirteen Greek artists – including, among others, Dimitris Papaioannou, Lenio Kaklea and Iris Karayan – were invited to present how the Greek crisis has affected their perspectives, artistic practices, and collaborative efforts.
The video was also screened as part of the EDN Atelier “The Relevance of Dance”, held at Dansmakers Amsterdam in March 2016.
Following its initial screenings, the ARTIST PORTRAIT gained attention and was later exhibited as a unique piece of video art at Dimitri Antonitsis' Hydra School Projects – Pow, Blop, Wizz, in the summer of 2021. This marked its transformation from a project-specific piece to a standalone artwork.
